Nancy Carlson Visit
It was exciting to have Children’s Book Author and Illustrator, Nancy Carlson, visit our PreK-4 students today. She shared her life’s journey in becoming an author and illustrator, gave some drawing tutorials, and signed books for some students. If your child paid for a book but did not receive it, it is because we ran out! We have put an order in for additional books and Nancy will sign and send them to us. Expect those to arrive in 2-3 weeks. This visit was made possible by our PTO and Carnival Fundraising! THANK YOU! Check out our school’s facebook page for some pics: https://www.facebook.com/tculonsdale/ Riverbend Nature Center We are excited to work again with River Bend Nature Center. They are visiting each classroom 3 times this year, fall, winter, and spring. They will be here on Friday, February 24th for grades 1, 3, and 4 and then back on Friday, March 2nd for grades K and 2. River Bend naturalists will be utilizing our nature center on site to have students learn through engaging with the environment. All of their lessons are aligned to state standards and our science curriculum. This program is made available to our students due to the amazing fundraising efforts during our Spring Carnival. Thank you for making these opportunities a reality of our students! *Please make sure your child is dressed in weather appropriate clothing. You will want to send boots in case they encounter mud in the nature center. Conferences Thank you for connecting with our teachers at conferences. Creating partnerships between parents and schools is such an important part of your child’s education. If you were not able to attend conferences, please contact your child’s teacher to set up a time to connect.
