Spring Carnival-Don’t Miss It!
Don’t forget about our Spring Carnival tonight, April 28th, from 5:30-8:00. There will be food, games, bouncy houses, silent auction, raffles, DJ, and much more. Great family fun is guaranteed plus you will be helping to enhance the educational opportunities for our students! See you there! Arbor Day Celebration We had great weather for our Arbor Day celebration! The day started off with an all-school assembly that discussed the purpose of Arbor Day and Mayor Rud shared how the City of Lonsdale takes pride in being a “Tree City USA”. Each grade level, K through 4, had the opportunity to plant their own tree with the help of Teresa Demars, with Rice Soil and Water Conservation District (RSWCD). The students also were able to bring home their own seedling donated by the Forestry division of the DNR. A big THANK YOU goes out to Mayor Rud, Ben Baker, The Lonsdale Lions, the DNR, RSWCD, and many other city representatives and parent volunteers. Our very own, Mr. Larson, has provided leadership for our staff on providing more environmental education for our Lonsdale Elementary students. There are future plans to partner with community organizations for a prairie restoration project to begin this spring. What an exciting time to be part of TCU Lonsdale Elementary! Grandparents Day We will be honoring our grandparents on May 5th at Lonsdale Elementary. The students will be performing a music program for them starting at 2:00. Cookies and coffee will be served from 1:30 – 2:00PM. Please extend this invitation to all grandparents and “grandfriends” of your child. If you choose to have your child go home with their grandparent after the program, Mrs. Lerfald in the office or your child’s teacher needs to be contacted. We are looking forward to their visit! Teacher Appreciation Week Teacher Appreciation week is next week! Our PTO is coordinating a breakfast and lunch for our fabulous teachers. Please consider contributing to this or recognizing them in a special way. We have amazing things happen everyday in our school and our teachers play a significant part in that. Here is the link to sign up to bring a food item: Teacher Appreciation Meals Bike to School Day On Wednesday, May 10th we will be participating in National Bike to School Day. Coming home next week, will be a flyer explaining various options if your child would like to bike or walk to school that day. Please send back the second sheet explaining how your child will be getting home that day. We also could use a few volunteers that day to act as crossing guards at certain intersections. We need some adults from 8:35-9:00 as well as 1:35-2:00 (since it is an early release day). Please email Ms. Klitzke if you are available to help out, [email protected]. Thank you!
